Arlette and Kaspar Rüegg have been working successfully as goldsmiths in Zurich for over 30 years. They opened their own jewelry store sueños in november 2016.
«The design and implementation of custom jewelry, wedding rings and objects is still the realization of a dream for us. We are a strong team since many years, professionally, but also personally. Based on the Swiss saying "you dont really know someone until you've traveled with them", we decided to travel the world together for eight months. Back in Switzerland, the way to independence was obvious. Confident that we would succeed, we opened our first workshop in the area part of Mühle Tiefenbrunnen. In May 2011 we initiated our next step and moved the business to Glockengasse 2, in downtown Zürich to open our luxurious jewelry store „sueños.“ Our ideas are often different, but our aesthetic understanding and styles are similar. We complement each other. Technical challenges, a strong design sense and the love for detailed work fuses us together in work and partnership. Our companionship ist the ideal hybrid and we consider ourselves to be very fortunate. »
«Our strength is custom-made jewelry created together with our customers to realize their dream. The work could manifest itself as a ring, earrings or even belt buckle. We are interested in exploring different materials, the technical finesse and the design. With these prerequisites our customer’s requirements are realized. We work in incremental steps. Any preferences? Clothing style? Jewelry style? Art? Favorite color? Favorite stones? Budget? The enjoyment is the individual motive, because our studio only creates unique pieces, which in every case is engraved with the "sueños" signature. The final piece is concise and precisely what our clients are looking for: a tangible symbol showcasing their unique expression and confidence. »
Born and raised in Solothurn.
Early on I discovered my love for craftsmanship, drawing and creativity. It was clear from the very beginning that it must be the profession of goldsmith! At the beginning of the 80's I completed my four-year apprenticeship in a small goldsmith's studio in Solothurn. This was followed by intermediate stations in Solothurn and Olten. In 1993 I moved to Zurich, where the clientele is more international and new challenges were waiting for me. At various renowned jewelers I was able to gain experience in different jewelry styles and manufacturing techniques and to refine the craftsmanship.
From the very beginning of my activity as a goldsmith, it has been important to me to be able to participate in the whole process of designing, producing and selling exclusive jewelry. This also includes expert advice to the customer.
In 2006 me and Kaspar Rüegg traveled the World for our study trip. Right after, we founded our joint venture "sueños" in November 2006.
Even today, after more than 30 years, I am still enthusiastic about the goldsmith craft!
Born and raised in Zurich.
Surrounded by a creative environment, my father Ruedi Rüegg was a graphic designer with his own agency and my mother Anni Rüegg was a goldsmith and gymnastics teacher, so I decided to become a goldsmith.
I was trained as a goldsmith by Weingärtner and Jucker in Zurich Witikon and Bernhard Ilg. I went on my first world and study trip in 1992. The fascination of gemstones led me to study gemmology at the Gemmological Institute of America, GIA.
Back in Zurich I worked for the best goldsmiths and jewelers back then. Since 1998 I was head of the studio and got to know Arlette, the love of my life.
«We accompany you personally from the idea, the creation, through the implementation to the sale.»
